Shem Creek

AKA the Disneyland of Charleston in the summertime. Shem Creek is the best- I highly suggest it to everyone coming to visit. On a sunny day, the vibes on the water are unmatched. Shem Creek is located in Mount Pleasant- it’s basically a waterfront lined with restaurants and bars. The views of the harbor are beautiful. You’ll see the prettiest sunsets and dolphins minding their own business.

It’s funny because come April/May, the moment we start to feel that sunny and 75 weather in Charleston, the “Shem?” texts start to roll in.

People will dock their boats, invite friends on, and come and go with drinks from Reds and Saltwater Cowboys- two of the best bars on Shem. 

Saltwater Cowboys- Live music, food, and frozen drinks (spiked frozen coffee is delish)

2 outdoor bars, 1 indoor.

Reds- 3 bars total, including a smaller rooftop bar. Directly next to Saltwater.

There’s about 10 waterfront restaurants on Shem Creek- Tavern and Table is another personal favorite. The other side of the creek doesn’t get quite as rowdy- but still has great spots. You can walk the boardwalk in between.

Tavern and Table- Slightly more formal dining option if you’re looking for some dinner with friends/family. Get the grilled veggie platter and the shrimp salad!!

NICO is another favorite, it’s just not directly waterfront. Best oysters & French cuisine. Fun fact- the chef/owner, Nico, was actually born in France and is the only French-Master Chef in all of SC which is pretty cool. (Also- oysters are half off on Mondays!!) 

Imagine living where you can walk, bike, or take the golf cart over to Shem Creek...
